CONSTRUCTION

Construction Technology 10 (5 credits)

  • This course introduces students to woodworking, focusing on tool and shop safety along with basic joinery and woodworking processes. Students plan and estimate time and materials for beginner projects, gaining hands-on experience in a creative environment.

Construction Technology 20 (5 credits)
Prerequisite: Construction Technology 10

  • Students select from Set A (Cabinet Making) or Set B (Carpentry), or a combination.
  • Set A Cabinet Making: Students learn cabinetmaking, furniture design, and construction, gaining knowledge of shop safety and procedures to construct intermediate woodwork projects.
  • Set B Carpentry: Designed to provide a basic understanding of carpentry fundamentals, including tool use, site processes, safety, and techniques.

Construction Technology 30 (5 credits)
Prerequisite: Construction Technology 20 and appropriate intermediate courses

  • Students continue to select from Set A (Cabinet Making) or Set B (Carpentry).
  • Set A Cabinet Making: Students review tool use, shop processes, and construction techniques, designing and planning advanced woodwork projects.
  • Set B Carpentry: Students gain integral knowledge of safety, tools, and procedures, learning to estimate and complete carpentry projects.
