To our FSD Community,

We are writing to let you know about important information stemming from the provincial budget, tabled on February 29, 2024, and its implications for our school division. While the province has announced an increase in funding to support enrollment growth in growing communities, that is not the reality for 69堂精品app as we are seeing a decline in enrollment.

69堂精品app received its projected operational budget from the province on March 28, 2024. The information we have received indicates that we will experience a challenging year ahead. These challenges are largely due to:

• Unforeseen changes to community grants, which are reflected in the operational funding grants provided by the province; 
• Static grant funding that is not reflective of significant inflationary costs;
• A decline in projected enrollment; and
• Our reserve levels are at a point where we can no longer supplement annual provincial funding. 

This will impact our operations and is the most challenging budgetary situation our school division has faced in many years. We are committed to navigating through these challenges with transparency and diligence and we continue to meet with Alberta Education to further understand the unanticipated funding changes for our division.

Despite these challenges, we want to emphasize that our division is fortunate to have exceptional support staff, teachers, and school and department leaders across all our schools and departments. Their unwavering dedication to the success and well-being of our students is recognized, and it is this commitment that will help us to continue to provide outstanding learning opportunities for students, preparing them for future success.

We firmly believe that through continued collaboration, we can uphold our high academic standards and safeguard the success of our students. We are committed to exploring every avenue to lessen the impact of the budget constraints while maintaining the quality of education that our students deserve.

1. How will the budget constraints impact a child's education?

   We anticipate that teacher-student ratios may change from one year to the next, and we acknowledge that this will have some effect on class sizes.

   The 69堂精品app has an extensive 5-year education plan (2024-2029) that guides our work to assure high quality education. These new challenges do not alter our direction.
